Yang Maoyuan

Chinese born Yang Maoyuan, is highly regarded for his diverse and extensive art practice. He was represented at the 2011 Venice Biennale, in The China Pavillion, with his work All Matters Are Visible.

This bold yet playful artwork, cast in aluminium, is inspired by the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac. Standing between 1.6m – 4m tall, the brightly painted animals atop the spherical bases are exaggerated to convey a sense of mystic wonder, whilst the rounded bodies imbue a sense of harmony and powerful life force.
