#Nirvana Tropicana

SHANGHAI, CHINA

In November 2020, acclaimed Japanese artist Tomokazu Matsuyama opened his incredible solo exhibition “Accountable Nature” at Shanghai’s Long Museum. The exhibition title derives from the technical term force majeure, which references natural disasters and unexpected events that are a detriment to the functioning of society and the economy.

Included in the exhibition is the first of the artist’s editioned series Nirvana Tropicana. The 7-meter sculpture embodies the abstract atmosphere in society and served as a symbol within the exhibition.

Nirvana Tropicana was made in UAP’s Shanghai studio and workshop using laser cut stainless steel with a mirror polish finish. This incredible edition marks the second collaboration between UAP and Matsuyama.
