#Crumpled Canopy

MACAU, CHINA

Creating visuals of liquid-gold floating through a 17m long entry space, French creative agency Malherbe Paris collaborated with UAP to deliver this interior ceiling canopy for Morpheus Hotel in Macau, China.

The newly developed hotel — designed by Zaha Hadid Architects — showcases an iconic external exoskeleton and hosts dramatic internal spaces.

Fabricated from 27 unique aluminium modules, each is hand beaten, preassembled & finished with a reflective gold paint. The resulting design is an undulating, reflective canopy that acts as a luxurious entry marker within the hotel. Suspended overhead, the seamless and fluid design compliments the development’s focus on the fusion of structural integrity and sculptural form.
