#City in the Grass
NEW YORK CITY, USA
In his first outdoor public art commission, Leonardo Drew created City in the Grass a major temporary public art installation for Madison Square Park in New York City. City in the Grass includes a sculptural intervention that mimics an undulating carpet and a cityscape crafted from wood, aluminum and colored sand.
In collaboration with the artist, UAP helped to develop and fabricate the 2,400 square foot stainless-steel plate that forms the foundation of the carpet structure. Offering an invitation for interaction, visitors are welcome to walk on the surface of the work and explore the abstract forms and varied materials from all perspectives.
City in the Grass was on display in Madison Square Park from June 3 to December 15, 2019.
This project marks our second successful collaboration with Madison Square Park Conservancy and Mad. Sq. Art.
