#bronze stones 1997

Judy Watson is an Aboriginal descendant of the Waanyi people of north-west Queensland. Her work explores her Waanyi culture and heritage and is held in major national and international collections.

In 1997, Watson was chosen alongside two other Indigenous women to represent Australia at the Venice Biennale. UAP worked with Watson to make a collection of cast patina bronze stones that were exhibited in Venice as a part of the Fluent exhibition. This exhibition was selected to highlight the spectrum of Aboriginal experience and artistic practice in Australia at the time.
